At the back of the cafe, there is a fairly inconspicuous, swinging door; this actually leads back to the kitchens, where the staff is often hard at work at preparing the next feast. It is a blinding array of polished silver and tin; everything is completely spotless. The checkered floor is probably a bit more scuffed than it is in other parts of the school, but hard work is being done in here! If you're feeling a little hungry at night, the staff members will usually provide you with a snack, but don't get caught by any of the professors! They're much more strict when it comes to curfew.

The ceiling of the cafeteria is nothing short of captivating; on pleasant days, warm sunlight spills through the solid glass and onto the tables below, creating a nice glow. The tables themselves are of varying shapes and sizes, and are colored after the house colors, though students may sit at any table they choose with whomever they wish. On especially pleasant days, students are encouraged to go outside and burn off some energy before the break is over-- the logic behind this seems obvious.
