No New Posts the sorting oracle

Just right of the entrance to Chiari, there is an opening in the wall. It is a doorway, only there is no visible hall, just an endless stretch of shimmering chrome. Step inside, and your eyes will be filled with the deepest black. The only visible object is an orb, blinding white in color, floating midair. Close the gap between yourself and the only source of light and carefully lay your fingers on it. Do not be frightened by the pulsating sensation that follows; the Orb is looking into your heart and soul. Where do you belong?

No New Posts the thinkbox

Some residents of Chiari choose to keep journals or diaries, which chronical their most personal thoughts and feelings. It is an insight to their hearts and minds-- and it's all right here. The relationship database can also be found in the thinkbox; who is she crushing on? Who is his greatest enemy? It's all stored here.

Those juicy little tidbits we most frequently call gossip never stay quiet for long, and it is here that much of that information is spread-- through owls, emails, and notes. Whether passed during class or sent through the internet at four in the morning, these are sure to be interesting to say the least.

xx.the dungeons

No New Posts the dungeons

Total darkness engulfs the dungeons, save small orbs of light radiating from torches. It's not a place where the students are apt to wander. Most people don't even know what's down here, as it's so dark. If you dare, run your hand along the cold, sticky wall to find your way. But don't be shocked if something reaches out...

No New Posts abandoned stairwell

In the far reaches of the dungeons, there is an old stairwell that has not been used for some time. A dingy white in color, some hypothesize that it is made of human bones. Aside from mysterious stains, many of the stairs are missing or broken, and huge chunks of the railing have rotted away. No one knows what rests at the top, but whatever it is, it can't be accessed by these stairs.

No New Posts the entrance

The original grandeur of Chiari is conveyed first at the grand entrance; the opening arch is carved of solid gold, and the great, rounded oak doors have weathered many storms. One can only hope they may weather the storms to come.

No New Posts first foyer

Clear light tumbles forth from high, spotless windows and sophisticated, crystalline chandeliers. Polished, black marble floors veer off in all sorts of directions; there seem to be a million arches leading into various hallways. Straight ahead is a grand staircase carpeted in red. This is not the only staircase, of course, but it is the largest in the building. The first foyer is the heart of the school; many journeys begin here.

No New Posts amoru commons

Hidden behind a portrait of Bella the Beautiful, the Amoru commons spill forth in an expanse of purple and white. The plushy carpet remains the purest white in color, much to the surprise and delight of the clumsier students. The walls, a rich violet in color, house various portraits and plaques. One corner of the room in particular is stacked with oak tables and chairs; this is commonly a studying area. Various circles of soft couches and welcoming arm chairs are scattered throughout the room, some situated near the fire place. All in all, it's a cozy little setting for some of Chiari's friendliest.

No New Posts the cafe

The ceiling of the cafeteria is nothing short of captivating; on pleasant days, warm sunlight spills through the solid glass and onto the tables below, creating a nice glow. The tables themselves are of varying shapes and sizes, and are colored after the house colors, though students may sit at any table they choose with whomever they wish. On especially pleasant days, students are encouraged to go outside and burn off some energy before the break is over-- the logic behind this seems obvious.

No New Posts the infirmary

Accidents happen. At least, we hope they were accidents. In any case, the medical staff have seen all sorts of injuries come in here, from missing bones (yes, missing) to cracked skulls (no worries, that one lived; brain damage was questionable, though). The white-washed wing is kept squeaky-clean, and if anyone so much as sits on the starched sheets, they're cleaned immediately. There's an office in the back where the medicine is kept, but that's locked at all times, and no one's ever allowed in there. And the medical staff is proud to report that there are no permanent blood stains to date.

No New Posts second foyer

The second foyer isn't quite as awe-inspiring as the first, though it is modeled similarly, with the same black marble floors and high, polished glass windows. However, one will find that the second foyer is more a maze than the first, and it's easy to get lost, so bread crumbs might not be a bad idea...

No New Posts the commons

House common rooms are great, but what kind of school would Chiari be if it didn't promote inter-house relations? This is the place to come hang out with friends of all houses. The floor is a plushy white carpet that never seems to grow dirty, and the walls constantly shift between the house colors. There are desks scattered here and there for work, as well as soft couches and a merry fireplace for cold winters. Form a study group, or meet here to arrange a spectacular prank.

No New Posts staff commons

Unlike the regular student commons, the staff commons are hidden-- oddly enough, they are positioned right next to the student commons, behind a portrait of Lady Kaa. With this knowledge, and the correct password, the staff can relax away from angsty teens. It has the same plushy white carpet as the student commons, but it holds only one long table with firm chairs (usually used for mass meetings), and otherwise, is filled with black couches. Against the left wall, there is a counter with a coffee maker and other assorted foods. These people put up with a lot, and they need a break, too!

xx.third story

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts third foyer

The third foyer is pretty simple, really-- same black marble floors and polished windows. It's a little narrow, which makes the between-class crunch a little awkward (most of the classrooms are up here), but it's not nearly as confusing as the second foyer.

No New Posts the classes

There is a broad arch on the right side of the third foyer, which leads into something of a subcorridor. This is where most of the classes are, with the exception of classes that need special facilities, such as astronomy and herbology. It's rather convenient to move back and forth across the hall during a day of lessons, instead of to opposite sides of the school.

No New Posts anuli commons

The Anuli common room is hidden behind a statue of Illyia the Intellectual. The walls are painted a classy gold, and the carpet is a rich emerald. In this particular common room, there are many desks and oak chairs to spare; Anulis value their study time. Additionally, there are couches and chairs in varying shades of gold and emerald, most of them situated in a number of clusters. They're bound to shift around; we think a few of the students are in to feng shui.

No New Posts the books of illyia

The library, named for the legendary Illyia the Intellectual, houses one of the largest collections left in the world. Rows upon rows of oak bookcases cover the black marble floor. In the center, there are a few tables crammed together, with plenty of light spilling from a small square of glass in the roof. If that's not enough, the walls are almost more window than gold paint. The librarian's desk is somewhere towards the back; if you intend to take any books with you, be sure to check them out before you go.

xx.fourth story

No New Posts fourth foyer

This foyer is pretty straight-forward. It houses the same black marble floor and polished windows, though there are fewer of the latter. The thing that makes this corridor interesting is the fact that, in place of painted walls, there are all sorts of pictures and words carved out, some in strange languages. Some of the portraits are of people, others are of places. The montage is somewhat overwhelming, and few people stop to wonder at the wonderful collection.

No New Posts crei commons

Of all of the commons, Crei's is the most difficult to find. Being on the fourth floor, they could be hiding behind just about anything. In this case, though, it happens to be behind an abstract painting near the floor. With the right password, it expands into a doorway, leading into a brightly-colored common room. The walls are painted a warm orange-- nothing too fluorescent or overwhelming, and the floor is a soft blue, as is much of the furniture. There are a few oak tables and chairs near the back corner, but beanbags are more popular with some of the more eccentric students.

No New Posts ballroom

With high arched ceilings and polished wood flooring, the ballroom is grand in every way. The walls are easily charmed to fit the occasion, be it Christmas or another holiday. It is large enough to house everyone in the school and then some, though for most of the year, it is vacant. Some students come here just to relax and get some quiet time when it's not being used for balls and whatnot.

In place of the standard ceiling and walls, the fifth foyer is enclosed in something of a glass dome, giving all passerbys a clear view to the skies above. It's an excellent place to wander when bored, or perhaps do a bit of late-night stargazing. Just don't get caught out of bed!

No New Posts merdu commons

The Merdu commons are hidden within the secret passage located behind a statue of Lord Aleksin. Unlike the other commons, they are not decorated in house colors-- all black and silver would be a bit bleak. The carpet is indeed black, and the walls are silver-- a very light silver-- but the furniture is a wide array of colors, from the blue couches to the red arm chairs.

No New Posts splish splash

The indoor pool is honestly called the Splish Splash by the majority of the students. No one is quite sure why-- it was probably started by Mikhail Akahi. In any case, it provides a great deal of fun in the winter, when it's too cold to swim in outside. The water depth ranges from four to twelve feet, and is complete with diving boards and a waterslide. There are lanes marked out for competitive swimming, and the surrounding white tile is always crisp and polished. Whoever said pool parties were reserved for the summer was a nutter.

No New Posts the roof

At the height of the school, there seems to be an endless expanse of steep roofing and turrets. But there is a decent, flat patch where students can finish some homework in peace, or just watch the sun set. It really is a lovely spot.

No New Posts kishu tower

On the fifth floor, there is an old runic carving set in bold scarlet and brown letters. Touch this and whisper the password, and a door will appear. Beyond this door is a set of stairs that leads to the Kishu common room. A perfect circle, the large commons are covered in polished wood flooring. Sturdy oak tables and plushy scarlet chairs and couches are spread across the floor, and the walls are painted an equally vibrant red.

No New Posts the owlery

The staff does their best to keep this place as clean as possible, but when you have a group of birds all in one tower... things are bound to be a little rank. At the very least, it smells like hay, since that's what's lined up against the walls. Enter into the owlery, and you're likely to find owls of all shapes, sizes, and colors flying in and out. Be careful what you write; you never know who might intercept it in these times.

No New Posts akahi's tower

Loved as he is, Mikhail Akahi is a strange man. Brilliant, yes but incredibly eccentric. This tower, designed by him, is unlike any other in the school. It would seem as though there is no floor, just a hole sweeping down into a black abyss, but in fact, it is invisible. Even stepping on it, though, seems strange, because it's so light. The walls constantly shift shape and color, and sparks tend to go up around the room. There are words and symbols carved into the ever-changing walls, though the meaning behind them is lost. On some occasion, the ceiling disappears altogether. On many occasions, the tower is locked, and cannot be accessed. No one knows what he does up here, and there is no evidence left behind, unless you count the strangeness of the tower in itself. When the door is unlocked, students are free to come in. Mikhail is good about sharing.

No New Posts trophy tower

Basically, this serves as a center to show off various accomplishments at Chiari. It's a little dark in here, because there's no room for windows. Every inch of the walls are covered in bookcases, though the bookcases themselves are pretty empty. Chiari is a new school, but it’s obvious that the Akahis are already anticipating greatness.

No New Posts rolling green hills

The grounds belonging to Chiari seem to stretch as far as the eye can see. It's this endless expanse of rolling green hills, perfectly picturesque whether its trees are filled with summer's life, or its grass is covered in blankets of white.

No New Posts chiari lake

Chiari Lake is beautiful, if only beacuse it is this one piece of nature that remains untouched by the Dark Lord's destruction. Stretching for several kilometers, it is an expanse of shimmering blue waters, clear and pure. Nearby, there are rocky falls, which add to the picturesque setting. It's also a great place for a swim in the summer, or a skate in the winter!

No New Posts ombreuse forest

At the edge of the school property, there is a dense gathering of dark trees. No one is really sure how far the Ombreuse Forest stretches, but at Isabella Akahi's insistance, the forest is strictly off-limits, and there will be severe punishments for anyone caught wandering too close to them.

No New Posts fleur gardens

Brilliant sunlight illuminates a remarkable variety of vegitation in the Fleur Gardens. In the summer, roses, tulips, and venus fly traps are in full bloom, and very nearly cover the neat walking path laid out. Even in winter, frosted flowers and ice roses give off a cool beauty. It's a nice place to take a walk.

No New Posts the stadium

A little removed from the actual school building, there stands a grand stadium. It is perfectly circular in shape, with polished metal bleachers. The grass on the field is always kept perfectly manicured, though it it is unmarked, because it is not there for any specific sport. There are sports supplies from balls to goals stored under the bleachers, and there are even locker rooms and concessions. The field may be used for practice, just for fun, or a competitive game. Whatever the reason, it's there for the students, and the staff, if they wish to engage in a little sport.

No New Posts the village

Kijwii is something of a lengthy walk from the school, perhaps thirty minutes on foot each way. It is a secluded little village, and the people there like it that way; they do their best to remain low-key, so as not to attract the attention of the Dark Lord. Students are not encouraged to wander too far in, but there are a few worthwhile attractions.

No New Posts merriton's pub

Just inside the village gates, there sits Merriton's Pub, small but bustling. The bar is small but polished, and always surrounded by plenty of stools. There are also a few booths, for those seeking more privacy. It's a great place to grab something to drink or just catch up with friends. It's really not meant for anyone under the age of fourteen, but that doesn't stop a few younger kids from sneaking in now and again.

No New Posts Club Peacock

No one really knows why it's called Club Peacock, but its strange name doesn't make it any less popular! It would seem clubs like this areone of the last escapes for young people. The outside is painted a bright blue, so you can't miss it. It sports a small bar for mild drinks (nothing too extreme) and a huge dance floor with strobe lights and the like. Usually, you'll see older teens and young adults in here breakin' it down. The DJ plays all the latest hits, and it's your job not to be afraid to dance!
